Plantation Shutter Panel Styles
Full-Height: The most common shutter style, full-height panels, covers the entire window to provide maximum privacy and a clean, streamlined aesthetic.

Louvers are available in three widths: 2.5 inches, 3.5 inches, and 4.5 inches. The slimmest louvers have a traditional appearance perfect for small windows around three feet high or less with shallow frames.
The 3.5-inch louvers are popular because they allow more light and increased view-through. They are also versatile enough to be used in various interior designs. We often suggest the 3.5-inch louvers as a good in-between option if you’re worried 2.5 inches are too small and 4.5 inches are too large.
The broadest louvers are 4.5 inches wide and are popular in farmhouses, cozy cottages, and coastal homes alike. These broad louvers are synonymous with clean, contemporary design. Since fewer louvers are necessary to cover the window, this width provides the most light and view. They are also easier to clean because the space between the louvers is larger.

Tilt Options
The central tilt rod option is a traditional style ideal for historic homes. A thin rod runs down the center of the shutter panel, and you adjust the louvers by pushing or pulling. This type of tilt bar helps reduce the number of fingerprints on your shutters, but it can be more challenging to clean. Central rods are reliable but are more prone to breakage if you have curious pets or kids who try to look through the louvers without using the rod.
We suggest the hidden tilt bar option for a tidy, contemporary look. This tilt rod is discretely placed behind the panel, and you move the louvers with your hand. A gentle downward sweep with your palm will close every louver. A hidden tilt bar will result in more fingerprints on the louvers, but they will be easier to clean without a visible tilt rod in the way.
